![]() These principles have guided my effort to grasp Martin Bernal’s methodological scheme and interpretation of evidence supporting his thesis outlined in Black Athena. Therefore, it is fundamentally important for the historian interested in the study of ancient history to either narrow the scope of his/her inquiry or acquire the necessary languages and other disciplines such as anthropology, archaeology and/or statistics to more effectively facilitate and engender a first-rate historical analysis. ![]() No historian should be so credulous to believe that they can get away with positing a thesis, no matter how plausible, on unconventional evidence outside their field of knowledge. ![]() ![]() Historiography is at its best when the historian interpreting data stays within the limits dictated by the range of knowledge he/she commands. ![]()

A psychological nightmare yarn spun between just two characters. Of Gyre Price's head, inside her helmet, miles below the surface of a planet, stalked by monsters. She understands the classical strength of the single narrator, the vicious focus of third person, non-omniscient objectivity, the claustrophobic potential of never, ever (almost ever) being able to escape the confines of one person's head. Anything else is just opera.Ĭaitlin Starling gets that. To really squirm into someone's head, sci-fi says, you gotta get 'em alone against the world. It has a streak of rugged individualism that's been around since the good old days, a vestige of its roots in the westerns, Golden Age sci-fi libertarianism and after-the-bomb freak-outs. Science fiction loves its stripped-down character list like high fantasy does the crowded dramatis personae. ![]() ![]() The lonely survivor in a ruined world - Last Man Alive. The following two novels, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, pick up one of the minor plot lines from the first book, and develop it into a full-fledged action story. The narrative winds between the actions of the two characters as their lives become more intertwined and as their investigations progress. Blomkvist is hired by a wealthy industrialist to look into the presumed murder of his niece a case that has long since been abandoned by the police. ![]() The first, and my favorite of the trilogy, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, introduces us to journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who has just been convicted of libel and hacker/investigator, Lisbeth Salander, who has been investigating him. The three novels, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl who Played with Fire, and The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest, follow the adventures of two well-developed and intriguing characters Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy" is a perfect example of this balance, and was enjoyable no matter what was going on around me. ![]() When I'm travelling, I love to relax with a book that will hold my interest but doesn't require undivided attention. ![]() Books like the cellar natasha preston6/29/2023 ![]() In it, Preston focuses on Summer’s relationships with the other characters. When she woke, she created Colin and much of the plot, wondering who, where, and why a girl would be kidnapped. The Cellar is a New York Times bestseller. ![]() She refuses to forget about her family, friends, Lewis, and all her memories – good and bad. Though the other girls in the cellar try to convince Summer to forget her past in order to fully adapt, she refuses. But Colin will do anything to keep his “family” together. While I haven't put the time into Plantinga's argument to determine if it's sound, I have put in enough time to know that most of its critics (I'm referring to the 'internet' critics here, not to the serious philosophical critics) don't understand it. Given Hitchens' general argumentation style and some of his "arguments" about God, I think Craig will demolish him. In other topic, William Lane Craig is going to debate "new atheist" Christopher Hitchens about the existence of God, April 4th, at Biola University. I want to know the best replies to his argument. I'm going to order the book "Narualism Defeated?" that is a critical examination of Plantinga's thesis by several philosophers. (Brian Leiter said that Plantinga's argument have been "decisively criticized", but given Leiter's bias, I think the reality is otherwise) ![]() ![]() Because, if it's, then it exposes belief in naturalism as actually inconsistent with belief in darwinian evolution. ![]() I'm not asking if, from a thomistic viewpoint, the Plantinga's argument is good or not (or necessary or not) my question is if his argument is, in your opinion, sound in a naturalist framework.
